The Lagos State Waterways Authority has reported that its recorded 10.69 million passengers in 10months of 2020.

The above figured was released following an official document obtained by Journalists  which detailed patronage of the waterways.

Also, the document detailed the ridership figures from January to October 2020, `added the total number of passengers for the period at 10.69m.

This is in contrast to 11.59 million passengers that were recorded in the first 10 months of 2019.

The document collated data from 29 jetties in the state which including Addaz Jetty, Abule Osun, Alex, Agbara Jetty, Agboyi Ketu, Badore, Bayeku, Commando Jetty, CMS and Coconut.

Other jetties include Elegbata, Epe, Etegbin Jetty, Falomo, Ibeshe, Ijede, Ijegun Egba, Ijora, Iya Afin, Langbasa, Liverpool, Metro ferry, Ebute Ikorodu, Ojo, Oke Ira Nla, Sagbokoji, Salve route, Tarkwa Bay and Tin- Can.

Checks by our correspondent showed that in 2019, Commando, Ijora and Ibeshe were the jetties with lesser passengers.

For instance, between January and March 2019, Commando, Ijora and Ibeshe had a total of 19,161 compared to other jetties. Metro Ferry, on the other hand, continued to record zero passenger figures.

Liverpool, Ijegun Egba continued to average 90,000 passengers monthly.

This streak continued in 2020 as Bariga, Ijora, Ibeshe jetties averaged between 500 and 1000 passengers in the first three months of 2020.
